GULF SHORES, AL – Fire crews received a call at 12:07 p.m. on Aug. 4 to the Sunset Cork Room on East 16th Avenue in Gulf Shores with most of the damage to kitchen.
“The kitchen is pretty well done and the rest of it is just smoke damage,” Fire Chief Hartly Brokenshaw said. “But it was pretty much contained to the inside.
“We had one little place that it kind of broke through the top, but if you drive by and look at it you couldn’t tell anything happened. It started in the kitchen, the attic area.”
Brokenshaw said the fire was not suspicious and no one was at the restaurant when the fire broke out.
“I would say the equipment is pretty much there in the kitchen, but we had to pull a lot of the ceiling out of it because it was up in the attic,” Brokenshaw said. “I would say that’s what took most of the damage.”
