ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Robertsdale police say that Ronnie Green, the principal of Central Baldwin Middle School from 1994 to 2004 was robbed Monday afternoon in his home in the 23000 block of College Avenue.
“He was outside, heard a noise, and walked in the house,” said Robertsdale Police Sgt. Rex Bishop in a telephone interview. “He saw one white male, and then a second white male appeared with a handgun.”
Police say Green was forced into a closet. He later escaped from the closet and called 911 around 1:20 p.m.
Police say the two suspects, described as being in their late teens or early 20s, 140-160 lbs, and standing 5’ 10” and 6,’ escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Green, reached by telephone, referred all questions to the Robertsdale police department.
“I have complete faith in them. Other than that, I am not making any comment,” said Green.
Bishop says that Green was the only one in the house, and that cooperating with the thieves was “absolutely in this case, the best thing to do.” Bishop added that the police are not disclosing the amount of cash the thieves made off with at this time.
Interviewed on Tuesday morning, Bishop did not think this incident was related to other cases.
“We’re thinking at this time that this was a burglary that he walked in on,” said Bishop.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Bishop at (251) 947-2222.
