Amelia Patricia Swiger and John William Swiger celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary October 22. The Swigers are residents of Gulf Shores. They have two children, David Swiger of Gulf Shores and Dr. Johnny Swiger of Mandeville, La. and have 6 grandchildren, Kristen Swiger, John-David Swiger, Michael Swiger, and Joseph Swiger – all of Gulf Shores; and Sarah and Mary Grace Swiger of Mandeville, La.
The couple was married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in 1960 in Fairmont, W.Va. They celebrated their anniversary with a renewal of vows at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church presided by the Rev. Robert W. Fulton. Angie and David Swiger stood as attendants.
