FAIRHOPE – Two people have been arrested in connection with the missing Fairhope woman found dead in Mobile, according to police statements.
Tammie Wedgeworth, 44, was reported missing Jan. 3. She was last seen at around 9 p.m. Jan. 1 when she left her Fairhope home to go to Mobile, according to Fairhope police reports.
On Friday, Jan. 8, Mobile and Fairhope police found Wedgeworth’s body after locating the missing vehicle. They also located two suspects who had been using the victim’s credit card, according to Mobile police.
On Saturday, Jan.. 8, Kenneth Colburn, 33, was arrested and charged with murder and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. Amanda Miller, 35, was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, Mobile police said.
Fairhope police began searching for Wedgeworth after she did not return home as expected and family and friends were not able to contact her by phone, according to a Fairhope police statement.
No other details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
