The Toros travel west to Faith Academy for a game that promises all the drama of a classic gridiron showdown. The last time the Toros grazed on the Rams' turf, it took two overtime periods to decide.
With region standings at a critical point, Toro coach Bryant Vincent says a Spanish Fort victory is imperative.
"This is a must-win game for us in order to get into the playoffs," he said. "The heart of our region schedule is the next four weeks. We only have one region win, and this (tonight) is crucial. Faith runs the wing-t and spread on offense and have two very fast, athletic running backs to give the ball to. On defense, they run a split 4 and 3-3 stack and bring pressure on you. The last time we played over there, we went into double overtime and won 28-27."
Bears host Fairhope in 6A Region 2
The Pirates and Bears are set for their annual Battle of Hwy. 104 that takes place at Sellars Stadium in Robertsdale.
Fairhope (3-2, 3-0) takes a better region record to the Bears' den, but 3-2, 1-2 Robertsdale is resurging with a region win over Williamson and a near miss against Satsuma. An RHS win could keep the region-wounded but still-hungry Bears in the playoff hunt, a motivation Fairhope coach David Faulkner is taking into account. Preparation, he said, will be the key.
"Robertsdale is much improved over previous years," he said. "They have made some changes offensively and defensively that have paid off remarkably well for them.
"They have already won a region game earlier this year with the win over Williamson. We will have to have a great week of practice and play well in all phases of the game to have a chance (tonight)."
No. 3 Daphne hosts Satsuma Gators
Coming off an impressive 38-6 win over Region 1 power Theodore to remain undefeated, the Daphne Trojans look to stay that way by beating visiting Region 2 foe Satsuma hanging in at 2-3, 1-2.
DHS coach Glenn Vickery said the Gators are dangerous from the first whistle to the final horn. If unchecked, the SHS ground game could dictate the tempo of the contest.
"Satsuma under coach Lonnie Rawlins plays very physical," he said. "They love to get after you on both sides of the ball. We must contain their running game. They are good at running and love to set the tempo. To have a chance to win, we have to play with great intensity and cannot let them set the tempo."
At the regular-season midpoint, Vickery said his team is playing well, but still needs improvement.
"Our focus at practice has been good. We feel we can improve in all phases: offensively, defensively and the kicking game. We've been good at times in each one of these areas, but know we can play at a higher level."
Daphne is giving up just 7.4 points per game, which puts them in second place in defensive scoring in Class 6A.
Admirals travel for top-10 showdown
Bayside heads to Washington County High for a decisive battle for 3A Region 1 prominence.
The Admirals are ranked No. 6 and are undefeated in region play at 3-0 and are 5-0 overall.
The Bulldogs are also 3-0 in the region, ranked No. 7 in the state and have one loss on their 4-1 mid-season record.
It is the first time the two have met as Class 3A schools. As 2A Region 1 rivals, WCHS swept the series 4-0 from 2001-05.
The Admirals continue to ride a historic wave setting school win streak (5-0) and point total (60 game-high) records as they go.
Bayside is scoring 38.8 points per game, which puts the Admirals fourth in scoring in 3A.
Foley visits winless BCHS Tigers
The Foley Lions travel north to Bay Minette to face the struggling Baldwin County Tigers in a 6A Region 2 game.

The Lions were led by senior quarterback Darius Powell, who threw for 121 yards and two scores. Kalif Koen and Joseph Brister added touchdown runs in the win.
Baldwin County is averaging just 7.4 points per game and has been shut out in three of its five losses.
Foley is fifth in Class 6A in defensive scoring, giving up just 10.8 points per game.

Citronelle beat 6A Satsuma 22-20 last week.
