INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Women’s Beach Volleyball Committee announced on May 1 the eight-team field for the inaugural 2016 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship.
The eight-team bracket will be the NCAA’s 90th and newest National Championship.
The field was selected from the 60 NCAA institutions sponsoring the sport of beach volleyball. Three teams were selected from the east region and three teams were selected from the west region.
The remaining two teams were selected at-large from the teams across the country. All eight teams were then seeded.
The finalists selected from the east region include, with seedings, were No. 1 Florida State, No. 7 Georgia State and No. 8 Stetson University. No. 3 Pepperdine, No. 2 Southern Cal and the No. 4 from UCLA made up the westt region selections. No. 5 Hawaii, Manoa, and No. 6 Arizona were granted at-large bids.
The championship will be Friday through Sunday, May 6-8, in Gulf Shores, Ala., hosted by the city of Gulf Shores, University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Sports Commission.
The event will be televised live by Turner networks, with truTV providing live coverage on Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7, from 2-5 p.m. and the championship round airing on TBS on Sunday, May 8, at 1 p.m. Addional Live streaming coverage of every court in each match of the tournament will be available on NCAA.com
