Teams step back into region play this week

After stepping out of region play last week, most Baldwin County teams get back into region play this Friday night.

The only Baldwin team that doesn’t play in region this week is 6A unbeaten Fairhope, who visits 0-5 Benjamin Russell in Alexander City. The Pirates are coming off a 41-21 win over 4A powerhouse UMS-Wright, while the Wildcats lost to Shades Valley.

Also in 6A, Region 2 Foley (3-2) welcomes Daphne (1-4). Foley defeated Mary G. Montgomery 41-13 while Daphne fell 43-7 to seventh-ranked Murphy. Foley quarterback Darius Powell had his best passing night of the season against the Vikings, finishing with five touchdowns. Murphy scored three touchdowns off of four Daphne turnovers on Friday.

Also in Region 2, Baldwin County (3-2) visits Robertsdale (0-5). BCHS defeated Escambia County 20-6, while Robertsdale lost to Baker 24-7. Both teams are looking for their first Region 2 win. BCHS has beaten Baker, Robert E. Lee and Escambia County.

In 5A, Region 2 Gulf Shores (3-2) hosts Citronelle. The Dolphins are coming off a 49-6 blowout over Wilcox Central. Gulf Shores quarterback Logan Paul accounted for four touchdowns in the first half, while wide receiver Jonathan Adams had two touchdown receptions in first half against the Jaguars. Citronelle defeated Satsuma.

Also in 5A, Region 2, Spanish Fort hosts Faith Academy. The Toros (4-1) blasted Hillcrest-Evergreen 45-0 on Friday. Keller Davis had a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown and a touchdown catch for the Toros.

Finally, in 3A Region 1 Bayside Academy travels to Choctaw County on Friday.

The Admirals (3-2) are coming off a 26-0 win over Mobile Christian on Friday. Quarterback Camp Campbell had a touchdown pass and touchdown run in the win. Ryan Owens and Thomas Buchanon added touchdown runs for the Admirals in the win.
