DAPHNE, Ala.— On his way home from summer school, a 14-year-old Daphne boy was struck by a Waste Management truck near the intersection of Baldwin County Highway 13 and Baldwin County Highway 64 according to Daphne Police.
The incident occurred early Thursday afternoon and the child’s name has not been officially released. Police believe the driver did not see the victim before the incident occurred and no charges were filed against the motorist.
The teen’s bicycle was struck by the truck’s rear tires and the teen was taken to U.S.A. Women and Children’s Hospital by ambulance, said Lt. Jud Beedy with the Daphne Police Department.
Beedy said when the boy left the scene he was alive and conscious. He was listed in critcal condition.
