Tennessee team topples Lady Tigers, 5-3

BAY MINETTE, Ala. Spring break visitor Station Camp, Tenn., High School scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning Friday night to hand host Baldwin County a 5-3 fast pitch softball defeat on the BCHS campus diamond.

The loss was the third in a row for the Lady Tigers and dropped their record to 5-3. Baldwin County was to have played at LeFlore Preparatory School in Toulminville in a Monday afternoon 6A Area 4 game, but it was postponed until Wednesday.

The Lady Tigers will host Satsuma in another Area 4 game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the first of at least five games in three days since they will also host their annual spring invitational tournament this weekend. BCHS travels to Foley on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. intracounty game against the Lady Lions.

Against Station Camp, the Lady Tigers and their Volunteer State visitors went scoreless for the first two innings before Station Camp broke through with an unearned run in the third via a two-out error by BCHS third baseman Britney Adams and back-to-back base hits.

Station Camp upped its lead to 2-0 with another run in the fifth after losing pitcher Allison Moye walked the lead-off batter.

Baldwin County took the lead with three runs in the sixth. Rachel Wood, Adams and Moye had base hits in the rally, Adams and Moye each driving in a run with their singles.. Kayla Bryars knocked in the other run with a ground out to first.

Another Adams error helped Station Camp in its seventh-inning go-ahead rally. The Tennessee team also had three of its eight hits in the seventh.

BCHS loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh on one-out singles by Wood and Candace Guy, buy Adams struck out, and Britny Butler grounded out to first to end the game.

Moye struck out four batters and walked two. Wood and Adams had two hits each for Baldwin County.
