South Baldwin Regional Medical Center said Thank You to Colonel Ron Lee, MD, MS. Lee who was deployed to Afghanistan the end of May.
Keith Newton, CEO of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, gave brief farewells and good wishes from the staff of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center to Dr. Ron Lee at his deployment reception on Friday, May 18, 2012. Lisa Stowe also spoke briefly during the reception for Dr. Lee.
Colonel Ron Lee, MD, MS. was deployed to Afghanistan at the end of May. Dr. Lee enjoyed a surprise reception in his honor and was rewarded with the presence of his staff, family, friends and staff members of the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. It will be difficult to see him go for 6 months; however, Dr. Peter Johnson was announced as the interim replacement during Dr. Lee’s absence.
After graduating from Duke University with his Bachelor’s degree and Emory University with his Master’s, Dr. Lee went to medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his Family Medicine Residency training at Bryn Mawr Hospital of the Thomas Jefferson Health System and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Crozer- Keystone Health System.
Dr. Lee served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Navy and, later, the Army Reserve. For five years, he was a faculty member at the University of South Alabama, where he served as an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine and was a team physician in the athletic department. In the department of Orthopedic Surgery, he treated occupational injuries and performed medical research.
Dr. Lee brought a wealth of occupational medicine experience to the South Baldwin area from his years in the U.S military, University of South Alabama and his private practice. As a sports medicine physician, Dr. Lee has specialized training in sports and exercise-related injuries. His primary focus is on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of injuries that occur during sports and other physical activity.
In no way could anyone ever be able to replace Dr. Lee; his shoes are entirely too large to fill. Therefore, we know we are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Johnson, a very qualified physician, to fill this position during Dr. Lee’s absence. We welcome Dr. Johnson and offer him our full support.
We sincerely wish Dr. Lee all the best and a safe return to us in the fall.
