“Good Morning Fairhope Foodworld custoers, and thank you for shopping at Foodworld.”

That used to be my greeting when I was on the PA to announce a sale. But then this, too, will pass. It’s like the end of an era, a wake. It’s been real hard staying to the end of a store closing.

Foodworld employees were not just workers but but a family; we were really close and friendly to all our customers. I go in other stores and no one even speaks to me, but I feel al my fellow employees would greet and talk to everyone

People say, “Don’t leave us,” or “Where are you going?” Sure they will find other places to shop but it won’t be the same. We watched children being raised up from infants, the elderly and those suffering illnesses, all sharing their lives with us on a daily basis. We shared birth and death; good times and bad. For 18 years I have looked forward to Monday mornings.

Thank you to all our not-only customers but friends. We got to know and share a piece of our lives with eachother. We will miss you all.
