The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber is a sneaky bunch when it comes to surprising the Island Spirit Award winners. A group of chamber members and staff, Orange Beach City employees and community members snuck in through a side door at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach Dec. 15 to surprise Brandy Thomley the Island Spirit Award winner for December.
Thomley was genuinely surprised and almost moved to tears when the large group surprised her. She is one of the smiling faces that greets visitors upon entering the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach. The nomination described her as, “a very outgoing employee of the Coastal Arts Center. She always meets you with a big hug and smile when you walk through the front door. She is the person that goes the extra mile to try to assist you with whatever you might need.”
The Island Spirit Award plague, flowers, Island Spirit pin and $100 prize were awarded to Thomley by members of the chamber.
Orange Beach City Administrator Ken Grimes was in attendance and said, “this is an awesome group that deals with a lot of unique things. There is a special place in my heart for dealing with the arts. I mean that. This is awesome and you are well deserving Brandy and congratulation.”
