In 1904, L & N constructed a new Depot in Bay Minette called “The Union,” because it was built at the juncture of the Ft. Morgan Railroad line with the main railroad line. The Railroad Depot in Bay Minette is located where the first homes and businesses in the town were built. On the south side of the tracks was where the Bay Minette Land Company was located as well as several boardinghouses for citizens. People of the town would gather to watch the train come in and get the chance to meet new visitors and residents. The big event of each night was at 10:10 p.m., when the train came passing through. The Railroad Depot was Bay Minette's first center of business, but it was relocated when the Baldwin County courthouse was moved to the north side of Bay Minette. Relocated in 1987, it was restored and serves as the office of the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce. The L & N Railroad Station is located at 301 McMeans Avenue in Bay Minette. It is open Monday through Friday for tours.
