Then Came Jarvis

Birney and Joyce Jarvis of Bay Minette, formerly of Orange Beach, spent part of June motorcycling in the Jackson Hole, Wyo., area around production sites of the adventure/drama television pilot and series “Then Came Bronson” (1969-70).

Four segments of the series were filmed there, including the sign-off scene in every one of the 26 episodes where\ actor Michael Parks rides his bike along U.S. 191 with the Tetons (Grand Teton National Park mountains) in the background.

The Jarvis' are shown here on that same highway astride their Harley Davidson Sportster, a replica of the bike used in the production.

Aficionados of the television series gather each year at various filming locations from coast to coast, some from as far away as Japan.

Most of the “Bronsonites,” as they call themselves, were also riding replicas of the “Bronson bike” as they rendezvoused at the sites of “A Famine Where Abundance Lies,” “The Runner,” “The Old Motorcycle Fiasco” and “Where Will The Trumpets Be?”

Some rode their motorcycles from as far away as Pennsylvania, Arkansas and Texas, while others, including the Jarvis', trailered theirs. This was the 41st anniversary celebration of the pilot and series.
