Think: Who inspires you to be your best?

The purpose of inspiration is not to see how much applause one can receive, but — more important — to create positive feelings and action.

Positive connections are made when one is willing to lend an ear to another. This is one of the key prerequisites for good communication. Those who inspire others are accessible and genuine in their intentions and actions. They are motivated to assist others, to listen to others, and to go the extra mile to accomplish worthy tasks. Consequently, everyone benefits from being motivated and inspired.

I’ve heard people say, “I don’t feel like I have many friends.” Well, the best tactic is to get motivated and set goals for making and keeping good friends. Think about commonalities you might share with others and how you might be able to work those types of activities related to your likenesses into your lifestyle. Make plans and keep an agenda. You will be surprised at how many people tend to be in the “same boat” as you, and how many of those people have rationalized the same thoughts and feelings at some point in their lifetime.

When working with others, let them know you care about them. Show them you are focused on what matters to them. Demonstrate high expectations and let them know you value their friendship, working relationship, and/or partnership. Keep in mind that many different obstacles in life can cause a person to feel small or less valued. Therefore, it is important for people to see your convictions and passion in life.

When you are able to speak or even teach what you believe and lead by example, you are better able to make a positive connection with others. All types of people respect those who possess the ability to walk with confidence and display an attitude of trust and confidence in others.

To what degree do you feel it really matters if someone is highly motivated in their work? Do you think they take off more when they are less motivated to be at work? Sure, they do. Effective leaders find a way to connect with others and make certain to the best of their ability that all workers feel valued and respected in their job responsibilities.

Giving someone a new title does not make them more qualified for a position, but empowering workers with the right tools and guidance can definitely enhance the desire in an employee to feel compelled to do their best.
