Third suspect arrested in Baldwin burglaries

LOXLEY, Alabama --- A third adult suspect has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in Baldwin County involving three teens charged in burglaries, both on the Baldwin mainland and on Gravine Island.

Robert James Walser III, 23, of Stapleton, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections facility on Thursday, May 31, charged with receiving stolen property, second degree and a probation violation.

According to published reports, Walser turned himself into police on Thursday and is in jail awaiting bond. He is the third adult suspect to be charged in connection with several break-ins in Baldwin County, mainly in the Stapleton community located between Bay Minette and Loxley.

Steven Edward Baker, 21, also of Stapleton was booked on April 24 charged with three counts, burglary third degree; four counts, theft of property, second degree; one count each, theft of property, first degree; burglary, second degree; criminal trespass and criminal mischief, first degree, all felony charges; along with misdemeanor charges of three counts, criminal mischief, third degree and theft of property, third degree. Baker is also being charged with failure to appear.

He is in jail on a $56,200 bond.

Phillip Alexander Roberts, 21, of Bay Minette was booked on May 9, charged with one count each of theft of property, second degree; criminal trespass, third degree; and criminal mischief, third degree.

He is in jail on a $5,600 bond.

Three teens, Dillon Tyree, Daniel Parnell and Scott Byrd, all 17, have been charged in connection with burglaries in the Stapleton area and on Gravine Island.

The teens are awaiting a Grand Jury investigation and could face charges in the death of Summer Moody, 17, who was shot in the head on the island during the early morning hours of April 15.
