Jacqueline Marie Thomas, 55, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 peacefully in her sleep at her home in Daphne after a lengthy illness.
Shee was born Sept. 8, 1952 in Lafayette, Ind., and lived in Daphne with her husband, Dall D. Thomas for the past 15 years. She had made many close friends through her business, Enchanted Cottage in Fairhope, which she owned and operated with her husband for the last 15 years.
Because she was such a kind and compassionate person and donated so often for different causes in the community, she had been recognized with several awards over the years, including the Kids Day America Award. Over the 15 years that she was in business in Fairhope she donated thousands and thousands of dollars in merchandise to those in need. Her kindness and generosity will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Himebrook.
Survivors include her husband, Dall D. Thomas of Daphne; her father, Evan Himebrook of Indianapolis; three sisters, Chris Barker of Indianapolis, Nancy Johnson of Daphne and Connie Neuman of Indianapolis; mother-in-law, Grace Thomas of Mandeville, La.; five sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of her special friends who cared so much and provided support and love during this past year. With a special thanks going out to Dr. Bobby Brown and all of the other doctors and nurses who took such good care of her.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, 300 S. Section St. There will be a second memorial service Saturday, Dec. 22 at her home church, Southport Christian Church, in Indiana, This will be her final trip home, a trip that she made every year for the holidays.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Jackie Thomas Enchanted Angel Fund at the First Gulf Bank in Fairhope. This fund will provide clothing for children in need, carrying on Jackie's love of helping children.
