Thomas Earl Sawyer Sr., 87, of Foley died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013.
Mr. Sawyer was born in Frisco City, Ala., and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in WWII.
He worked at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile, and retired from Naval Air Station Pensacola as an aircraft mechanic with 31 years of service.
Mr. Sawyer was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley for 45 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Glenn and Cornelia Sawyer; and by a son, William Glenn Sawyer.
Mr. Sawyer is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Eugenie Hinton Sawyer; daughters, Melanie (Cecil) McClinton and Stephanie Sawyer Johnston; sons, Thomas Earl (Deanna) Sawyer Jr. and Leslie Toliver Sawyer; a brother, James (Paula) Terrell; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Keith Talbert and the Rev. Denson Freeman Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, from 2 until 4 p.m., at Hughes Funeral Home in Daphne.
