Mr. and Mrs. George Williams Thomas of Montgomery announce the engagement of their daughter, Virginia Anne Thomas, of Montgomery to Woods Ormond McKibbens, of Black Mountain, N.C., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Manly McKibbens of Point Clear and Black Mountain.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Crawford Thomas of Montgomery, the late Lt. Col. James Robert Watson and the late Mrs. Geraldine Arledge Watson of Montgomery. She is also the granddaughter of Jane Trousdale Watson of Montgomery.

She is a graduate of The Montgomery Academy and The University of Alabama, where she graduated summa cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, The XXXI, the Blackburn Institute and Chi Omega. She attends The University of Virginia School of Law, where she was the managing editor of the Virginia Tax Review. She will be employed by Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP in Birmingham as an associate in the fall.

The prospective bride groom is the grandson of Mrs. Oliver Ormond of Forest, Miss., and the late Mr. Ormond, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Reece McKibbens of Laurel, Miss.

He is a graduate of Harlingen High School South in Harlingen, Texas, and Baylor University, where he was a member of Kappa Omega Tau Fraternity. He received a Masters of Science in management with a focus in healthcare from Troy University while employed at Pensacola Baptist Medical Center in Florida. He is an owner of a Biltmore Village business in Asheville, N.C., and a board member of Camp Hollymont for Girls, a family owned company, also in Asheville.

The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. Aug. 14, 2010 at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery. The Rev. John-Michael van Dyke will officiate the ceremony with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Reece McKibbens of Worcester, Mass., assisting. A reception will follow at Montgomery Country Club.
