Thomas Ross Byerley, 60, died Feb. 1, 2015 in Mobile with his family at his side.

Mr. Byerley was born in Mobile, and graduated from Shaw High School. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church.

Thomas was a man of many talents. His enjoyment of landscaping began as a teenager while tending the greens at Spring Hill College and the Mobile Country Club.

While working at Kaiser Aluminum, Tom became a skilled welder, and this ability served him well as he transitioned his career to his true passion, as homebuilder and carpenter. The fruits of his craftsmanship can be seen throughout Baldwin and Mobile counties.

Thomas was happiest Sunday afternoons with his boys and brothers, working on various projects. He loved tinkering on many cars and trucks over the years. He inherited his mechanical ability and painting skills from his daddy.

Tom never met a stranger and his gift of gab was well known to all that met him. He had a servant’s heart, and was always very thankful for what people did for him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fredrick and Martha Byerley; and his sister, Lynn Marie Byerley.

He is survived by his two children, Ross (Kelley) Byerley and Andrew Byerley of Semmes; his brothers, Charles (Kathy) Byerley and William (Jill) Byerley; his sisters, Patricia Byerley (Gordon) Tallent and Geri Margaret Byerley (Steve) Lewandowski; and special friend, Helen Joyce.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church (Whistler), 3625 W. Main St. in Mobile on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at 11 a.m., with visitation at the church at 10.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Bridget Catholic Church.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at noon, at the Pole Barn on Brady Road in Semmes.

Arrangements by Pine Crest Funeral Home, Mobile.
