Margaret Turner Bryant Thompson, 94, a resident of Westminster Village, Spanish Fort, died on Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
She was born in Sheffield. She was a graduate of Livingston University and was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Society and a member of the Golden Key Society. She received her Master of Arts degree and AA Certificate from the University of Alabama. She taught in the public school system of La Grange, Ga., Aliceville and Mobile.
She served on the State Text Book Committee of Alabama and belonged to the National Retired Teachers Association. Her passion was teaching. She was always a strong example of the best in her beloved profession. Her love of children, her dignity, warmth, and kindness have served as an inspiration to her fellow teachers and a host of students whose lives she touched.
She was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities including the Presbyterian Women's Organization and Christian Education. She was a member of Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Earle Bryant Sr. and her second husband, Dr. Cecil A. Thompson.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas E. Bryant of Birmingham, William T. Bryant of Nashville, Tenn., and Barry C. Bryant of Baltimore; stepchildren, Margo Miller of Jackson, Miss., and Bob Thompson of Senatobia, Miss.; devoted grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14at Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Aliceville.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church.
