Three held without bond in Foley murder case

FAIRHOPE, Alabama – Alvino Javier Rodriguez was shot in the head and killed after refusing to surrender his money during a home invasion Monday night in Foley, a witness said at a bond hearing Tuesday.

Two witnesses testified to seeing Frederick Ike Odom holding a gun while he and two others, Travis “T.C.” Golden, 25, and Crystal Rose Shaw, 28, robbed two residences at a County Road 12 trailer park. Kevin Fuentes testified that he witnessed Odom shoot his friend in the head after he had taken wallets from the other two other men in the room. Odom then shot another man, Calixto Garcia, in the chest before leaving the mobile home.

“Him,” Fuentes answered in Spanish when asked who was holding the gun as an interpreter translated his words, pointing at Odom.

Witnesses said they knew Shaw because she solicited sex to residents in the trailer park in the past. The two Honduran men were shot after Shaw entered the trailer and asked for a drink. She led Fuentes, Rodriguez, and Garcia to a bedroom, where they took photos of her without a shirt.

“(Rodriguez) told him (Odom) ‘I don’t have any money,’” Fuentes said in Spanish. “At that point, he shot him in the head,” Fuentes said, indicating Odom as he sat between his defense attorneys.

Garcia was flown to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola and is in stable condition, according to a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office release.

Fuentes said he and the two victims were not in the country legally. Fuentes, who is originally from Honduras like the other victims, said he was not afraid of being deported, but was worried about his own safety.

“I’m afraid that something bad will happen to me,” Fuentes said. “I am afraid.”

The triumvirate criminals robbed two trailers in the park on Monday. Ricky Morales-Rojas testified that he was pistol-whipped during the first incident. Shaw entered both trailers before Odom and Golden came in with weapons and ran out as they came in, according to reports.

Both witnesses said Golden was carrying a knife. Golden held the knife to Feuntes’ stomach, according to testimony.

Shaw and Odom were arrested hours after the robberies Monday night at Shaw’s apartment a few miles away from the crime scene. Golden turned himself in early Tuesday morning.

All three defendants are charged with capital murder in the course of a robbery and attempted murder. All three are being held without bond on the murder charges. A bond of $100,000 was set for each for the count of attempted murder.

A person convicted of capital murder in Alabama can face life in prison or death by lethal injection.
