SUMMERDALE — Three area men were arrested this week on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force arrested three men. Two men, Hector Zarate Malagon of Ponderosa Farm Road in Robertsdale and Rodolfo Arizandy Bucio Martinez, who authorities believe resides in North Carolina, were taken into custody April 27.
Malagon and Martinez were arrested at a home on County Road 9 in Summerdale. The owner of the dwelling was not at home at the time of the arrest, and the BCSO says the owner, “at this time is not believed to be involved in the illegal activity.”
Task force members arrested Malagon and Martinez after purchasing a pound of methamphetamine for $20,000. The Sheriff’s Office puts the street value of the drug at around $58,000. A Ford truck and more than 600 dollars was also seized. Both men are now in custody, being held on a $1 million bond.
According to a release from the BCSO, the men are in this country illegally.
The investigation continued, and on April 29, a third man, Jesus Alberto Salazar Serrato of 24226 County Road 71, Robertsdale was arrested after undercover officers purchased 11 grams of methamphetamine. Serrato is being held on a $5,000 bond. He is also said to be in this country illegally.
Immigration officials have asked that all three be detained, according to the press release.
