ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Florida police arrested four suspects, three juveniles and one adult, in connection with the home invasion/robbery of Ronnie Green, the former principal of Central Baldwin Middle School.
Sunday night, police in Jacksonville, Fla., arrested 28-year-old Shawn Perrigin. He will face burglary charges once he is extradited to Alabama.
According to Robertsdale police department spokesman, Sgt. Rex Bishop, three juveniles were also arrested. One of the juveniles, a male, will be tried as an adult after he is returned to Alabama.
“Perrigin was picked up in Jacksonville, Fla., Sunday night. The juveniles were picked up earlier in the day in Volusia County, near Daytona Beach,” said Bishop. All the suspects were from Mississippi.
According to an Internet search, if convicted, the two men face a sentence of no less than 20 years for the commission of a “Class A” felony in which a firearm was used.
Bishop declined to name the male juvenile, but said his name would be released when he was brought to central booking later this week. The two females would probably be released to their parents’ custody, he said.
Robertsdale police will review the case carefully, Bishop added.
“It is possible that other charges will be pending,” said Bishop
Green was the principal of CBMS from 1994 to 2004 and was robbed June 30 in his home in the 23000 block of College Avenue. He was outside when he heard a noise, and walked in, only to be confronted by two males, one of whom had a handgun.
Bishop declined to discuss why Green’s home was targeted.
“We have no motive at this time,” Bishop said.
Police say Green was forced into a closet, and the robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
