ORANGE BEACH – The Thunder on the Gulf powerboat races scheduled for October off the Alabama Gulf Coast have been canceled because of the oil spill.
The event ran in the Gulf for six straight years, but was canceled last year because of economic reasons. The popular races have not been rescheduled, but organizers said they hope to return to Orange Beach in 2011.
