DAPHNE — After Daphne took the opener 8-1 over Baldwin County High in Bay Minette, last Thursday the Tigers bounced back to win two Friday at DHS in extra innings 7-6 in eight and 3-2 in nine.

"I challenged them after we lost 8-1 to Daphne in the first game," said BCHS head coach Peter Bezeredi. "I'm extremely proud of my kids. They didn't give up the battle and they did that regardless of the circumstances we faced."

Daphne head coach Joe Hutchins said his team got off to a good start but couldn't find a clutch hit down the stretch.

"We left some guys on base. We had opportunities. The bottom line is we couldn't get the clutch hit to save our lives."

As of Monday, the 6A Area 4 race runner-up spot was still to be decided by tie-break rules. Baldwin County, Daphne and McGill-Toolen Catholic finished with identical 2-4 records including the first tie-break win-loss records. Final results will be posted later. Satsuma emerged as the area champion after defeating McGill-Toolen Friday.

The Tigers' Tucker Miller got the win in game three in two innings of work. Chris Andreoli got the win in game two also with just two innings on the record.

"Tucker pitched well for us," Bezeredi said. "J.A. Harville also threw well for us earlier in the game. He got stronger as the game wore on and tossed seven innings."

Brandon Peterson took the game-one victory for Daphne. Peterson, Kyle Reese and Dillon Schaniel had Trojan RBIs including a solo homer by Schaniel. C.J. Stevens and Joe Devan led the offense for BCHS.

In game two, Jordan Ebert had three RBIs off a big two-run home run for the Tigers as well as three singles. Andreoli, J.A. Harville and Jake Swearingen each added multiple hits for the Tigers. For DHS, Peterson was 3-for-3, Tyler Powell had a double and a single, Jared Olson had a triple and Schaniel a double.

The playoffs begin Friday.
