FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Mary Lois Timbes, author of “The Fair Hope of Heaven: A Hundred Years After Utopia,” will discuss highlights of Fairhope in the 20th century based on the information in her book at the Fairhope Museum of History on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m.
At her talk to museum visitors, she will emphasize the early days of Fairhope and tell the story of E.B. Gaston.
Donnie Barrett, museum director, says that Fairhope Tea will be served, and the public is invited.
She will then read the chapter “Bud, Dian and the Horse Lovers” at the Marietta Johnson Museum at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20.
The chapter centers on local Fairhope characters Dian Stitt Arnold and Blanche Brown, who were horse-loving residents of Fairhope in the 1950s.
For more information about the Marietta Johnson Museum stop, call Maggie Mosteller at 990-8601.
Timbes has been a director of the latter museum and served on the Fairhope Historic Preservation Committee of Fairhope as well as on the boards of the Fairhope Museum of History and of the Organic School.
She knew many of the unique personalities, and has researched the others.
