Today is National Signing Day for high school football athletes, and Baldwin County has its share of football players who will sign on the dotted line.
At press time, athletes at Robertsdale High School, Foley High School, Baldwin County High School and Daphne High School were expected to sign with colleges today.
Daphne High School, which won the Class 6A state championship in December, is expected to have at least three football players sign today. Linebacker Michael Pierce, who was the MVP of the 6A championship game, is expected to sign with Tulane. Wide receiver Israel Lamprakes will sign with Southern Illinois and safety Kyndal Minniefield will sign with Buffalo.
At Robertsdale High School, Cordero Dade is scheduled to sign with Alabama A&M.
Several Foley High School athletes are expected to sign this morning. Quarterback Darius Powell will sign with UAB, defensive end Dre’Shon McGaster is expected to sign with Troy and lineman Ramon Wilson will sign with Alabama A&M. Lineman Nick Lawhorn, along with several other Foley athletes in other sports are also expected to sign today.
Several athletes are expected to sign today at Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette. Offensive tackle David “Boo” Simon will sign with the University of South Florida, while Steven Stevens will sign with the Arkansas State Red Wolves. The school expects several other athletes to sign as well.
