ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A 15-month-old girl found unresponsive last week in a pool located at a home northeast of Robertsdale died days later at a Pensacola hospital.
Maj. Anthony Lowery with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded to the home on Pate Road, which is off of County Road 62 between Elsanor and Rosinton, at approximately 8:45 a.m. July 28.
The child died Saturday as a result, Lowery said.
The case will be brought before a grand jury at a later date, Lowery said, but no charges are pending in the case.
“There is no evidence that leads us to believe that this was nothing but a tragic accident,” Lowery said. “All drowning cases are presented before the grand jury, but there are no charges pending at this time.”
In an earlier report, Lowery said the little girl was able to open an unlocked door and walk out into the yard. According to reports, the pool was above ground, but was attached to the house.
She was taken by Life Flight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where she died Saturday in ICU.
