MAGNOLIA SPRINGS — Longtime Magnolia Sprngs resident Thomas “Tom” Webb announces his candidacy for Place 4 on the Magnolia Springs Town Council.
Webb has two decades of experience as a small-business owner both in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
“He and his wife Darlene owned and operated the Little Kitchen on Dauphin Street in Mobile for 10 years,” a news release states. “After that, they moved to Magnolia Springs and opened Country Clutter in the Tanger Outlet Mall and were in operation there for 10 years.”
Retired from GE Inspection Services in Mobile, Webb currently drives a school bus for Baldwin County Public Schools.
“His bus is based from Magnolia School,” the release states. “Working with the local children on a daily basis allows him to see the importance of recreational areas for our citizens.”
Webb has also been involved with Magnolia Springs’ public policy, having served as a member of the town’s Public Works Committee for two years.
“He is aware of the workings of the council and the projects in the works,” the release states. “He realizes the importance of having more outlets for the citizens to be made aware of and their being discussed before they are put into place.”
A native of Prattville, Webb graduated from Prattville High School and trained in the X-ray field for industrial radiology and non-destructive testing.
A father of three and grandfather of 13, Webb is known in Magnolia Springs for dressing up as Uncle Sam each during each annual parade on Independence Day and riding his father’s tractor that he restored. He is also a member of the South Alabama Antique Tractor and Engine Club.
“Webb would be honored to serve the citizens of Magnolia Springs by being on the council,” the news release states. “He has been involved in a limited way, by being on a committee but would like to give back to the community that he loves by taking a more involved position that being on the council would allow him.”
Magnolia Springs Town Council members serve four-year terms for an annual salary of $1,200.
