FOLEY, Ala. — Straight out of south Florida comes the launch of Torcher, headed up the coast and into the area for the inaugural Festival of Musicians, March 12-14.
The festival is planned for Spring Break 2010 with tickets available at http://festivalofmusicians.com/tickets.htm.
The festival will rock at 21774 Miflin Road in Foley.
The Festival of Musicians is billed as the world’s first music festival for musicians, launching spring break with 12 stages and three non-stop days of performers, VIPs and vendors.
Torcher will take part in The Gauntlet, a performance competition that will see the band hitting multiple stages at various times all three days.
These stages and performance areas are scattered over 200 acres of gently rolling land, just minutes from the white sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.
Promoters hope to unite musicians in a creative forum and create a spectacle that will bring us, collectively and individually, before the eyes of the world.
Torcher, a new powerhouse quartet, is led by frontman Mack Preston, ready to expand off the success of his 2008 Powerline Records release, “Tortured Mind.”
Torcher is completed by famed Los Angeles rock and world music journeyman, Marcel Anton, known as much for his guitar flare on stage as for his skills behind the production board of such acts as A Dream of Reality.
Holding down the rhythm section are bassist Ben Perman and drummer Matt Joss, the same team that propelled south Florida’s A Dream of Reality through the 2008 Van Warped Tour nationally.
Torcher’s debut full length release “Burning the Edge,” due early this year through Magnum Pacific Music Entertainment. The CD will serve as the companion piece to a scripted reality show about the band, now in development.
Multi-tattooed former undercover cop Preston has been busy since the release of his first record last year, filming a guest role on the USA Network hit series, “Burn Notice” as a wise-cracking bail jumper.
In his day job as an undercover detective, Preston became a legend in his local Florida by breaking up one of that state’s most murderous drug rings.
Anton is a New Orleans singer and Creole-funk guitar wizard. A sought-after performer at music festivals, clubs and private functions, Anton also is an accomplished composer, producer and arranger.
He has performed and been part of the scoring team on several movie soundtracks, and has worked with a long list of industry notables.
Bassist Perman and drummer Joss recorded with Emo/Screamo band A Dream of Reality’s “It’s Nothing Personal.” Their 2008 debut for Powerline Records was widely celebrated by its core audience, with airplay on more than 200 college stations nationwide.
The band completed three MTV-style music videos (“After Dark,” “Let Me Be the One” and “Silly Girl”) which are widely available on YouTube and throughout the Web.
They toured the U.S. and Canada with the band on the 2008 Van Warped Tour.
