Toros win big; Bears, Trojans lose

SPANISH FORT – The Spanish Fort Toros shut out visiting Hillcrest-Evergreen 45-0 on Friday.

The Toros scored 21 points in the first quarter en route to the blowout win. Elijah Peters scored first on a 59-yard run, then quarterback Patrick McGavin ran 23 yard for a score. Keller Davis added a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown in the opening quarter.

Davis also caught a touchdown pass later in the game. Otis Smith added two touchdown passes in relief of McGavin. Cullen Milner and Zachary Fowler added touchdowns for Spanish Fort (4-1). Garrett Beech and Christopher Beasley had interceptions for the Toros on defense.

The Toros host Faith Academy on Friday.

Murphy 43, Daphne 7

DAPHNE – The Daphne Trojans turned the ball over four times, including three interceptions and one lost fumble, en route to a 43-7 loss to Murphy at home on Friday.

Daphne fell to 1-4 overall. The Trojans play at Foley on Friday.

Baker 24, Robertsdale 7

Robertsdale fell to 0-5 with a 24-7 loss to the Baker Hornets on Friday night.

Robertsdale quarterback Caleb Sumrall connected with Sammy Tolbert for a five-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter for the Bears’ only score.

Robertsdale will host 6A, Region 2 foe Baldwin County on Friday.
