SILVERHILL, Ala. — The Silverhill Town Council approved a resolution and two ordinances at its regular meeting Monday at town hall.
First, the council unanimously passed a measure to revise Resolution 428. The council voted to revise wording in the resolution, which stated that the town would provide $60 per month to the town’s senior program. The revision states that the town will provide up to $60 per month.
All council members and Mayor Tim Wilson voted to approve the ordinance. Council member Steve Brooks was not present at Monday’s meeting.
The council also approved Ordinance 391 stating that the town will participate in the August sales tax holiday.
The ordinance conforms with Act 2006-574 enacted by the Alabama Legislature during the 2006 regular session providing for a state sales tax holiday on the first weekend of August. The tax holiday applies only to school supplies and school related items, such as clothing and computer items.
The council also unanimously passed Ordinance 392, amending 126.
According to the ordinance, it is “unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to keep any domestic or farm animal or fowl including cats and dogs within the corporate limits of the Town of Silverhill in any manner as will be, or may become a menace to public health or in any such manner as to constitute a public or private nuisance due to obnoxious odors or noises.”
Under the previous ordinance policing and fines would be levied by county officials. The council voted Monday to ammend the ordinance, where the town now polices and levies fines under the ordinance.
Chief of Police Kim Wasdin now issues a written notice and offenders face fines of no less than $50.
In other business Monday, the council:

— Discussed helping pay for a flashing light at Central Baldwin Middle School. The measure died for lack of a motion.
— Discussed concession stand operation costs at the Silverhill Ball Park. No action was taken.

— Discussed extending water lines on Camellia Lane at the request of a local resident. No action was taken.
