SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Bass Pro Shops representatives and members of Cypress Equities hosted a “roof raising” ceremony for media and invited guests, Wednesday, Dec. 12 for the new Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World under construction in Spanish Fort.

Bass Pro Shops is the anchor for the new Spanish Fort Town Center, a mixed-use development by Cypress Equities, which will encompass 200 acres on the northeast corner of I-10 and Highway 90 in Spanish Fort on the eastern shore of the greater Mobile area. Cypress Equities is the development affiliate of The Staubach Company based in Dallas, Texas.

Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World stores are considered ‘destination’ locations. Their 47 stores see more than 90 million visitors a year with most of the locations being that state’s No. 1 tourist attraction.

The 140,000 square-foot outdoor store, equivalent in size to 3 and ½ football fields, is tentatively scheduled to open late summer 2008.

“Spanish Fort Town Center has been over three years in the making,” said Scott Harrington, managing partner with Cypress Equities’ Atlanta office. “Seeing the Bass Pro Shops store under construction is a dream come true for many of us at Cypress Equities and the City of Spanish Fort. This store makes good on our promise in 2004 to deliver a project that is special and unique to this region.”
