Treasures of the Isle chili cook off Saturday at The Wharf

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The Treasures of the Isle Mardi Gras krewe membership is gearing up for a spectacular Chili Cook-Off and it’s not too late to enter your chili.

To enter a team, go to www.treasuresoftheisle.com or Facebook or call Patsy Layfield 251-709-3898.

Here are some of the teams entered this year: Holy Cow Chili, Los Tres Amigos Chili, Tiger Meat, Taco Chili, Naughty Nude, Glamorous, Nacho Mama's Chili, Blue and Orange Kickers Chili, Rattlesnake Chili, Boo Ray Chili and Shawn's House of Burgers Chili.

Cost is $35 for a team and teams must be set up by 8 a.m. The event is at The Compleat Angler at the Wharf and there will be a free shuttle to and from the Shrimp Festival from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Tickets to sample the entries are $15 and children under 12 are free. They are available from TOI members and Designs by You Jewelry. A portion of the proceeds to Benefit Mary’s Shelter.

Prizes will be awarded for People’s Choice, Judge’s Favorite and Best Dressed Team. Also bring your Best Cornbread recipe, will have a winner.

The event also includes a Silent Auction, chili tasting and voting for your favorite, football games including Alabama vs Missouri, Auburn vs Ole Miss.
