MOBILE, Ala. — Trey Roberts rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns in just one half of play as the McGill Toolen Yellow Jackets topped the Foley Lions 28-14 in a Class 6A Region 2 game on Friday.
Roberts broke a 51-yard touchdown run on McGill's first play from scrimmage, scored from 30 yards out on the Jackets' next possession and capped the half with a 68-yard scoring run with 1:39 left in the second quarter.
"Trey is a special back, for a guy who had very little experience at the position I really feel like he has come along," McGill-Toolen head coach Bart Sessions, whose team improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 2, said. "He runs the ball very physical. He has that defensive mentality where he powers the ball up in there."
The Yellow Jackets added a score at the 4:28 mark in the second quarter when quarterback Jason Smith connected with Carl Lee for a 10-yard strike. McGill led 28-0 at the half.
"We are so fortunate to be in the position we are in, 3-0 in the region and 4-0 overall," Sessions said. "What a great job by our kids. I'm so proud for them."
Foley (2-2, 1-2) scored its first touchdown with 8:43 left in the fourth. Maison Taylor hit a leaping Quinton Butler in the end zone for a touchdown. D'Marsjae Casey blocked a McGill punt on the next possession and B.T. Sanders returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.
Both teams step out of play next Friday as Foley hosts Alma Bryant and McGill hosts Davidson.
