GULF SHORES, Alabama — The Trinity Presbyterian Wildcats defeated the Robertsdale Golden Bears 2-1 in the semifinal round of the Gulf Coast Classic II baseball tournament on Thursday morning at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.
Charles Allen Woods' two-run single in the top of the third was all the Wildcats needed to advance to Thursday afternoon's championship game in Gulf Shores. Will Holland and Charles Mitchell combined for the win for the Wildcats.
Robertsdale's Michael Paul and Troy Johnson combined for the loss, with Paul giving up four hits and two runs in three innings. Johnson struck out two and gave up three hits in relief for the Bears. Robertsdale's run came in the bottom of the first when Tres Givens scored from third when Trinity attempted to catch Jacob Bushaw stealing second.
Robertsdale will play at McGill-Toolen on April 3 at 6 p.m.
