FAIRHOPE, Ala. — On Feb. 1, Fairhope’s Trinity Presbyterian Church will welcome a new senior minister.

The Rev. Matt McCollum will preach his first sermon on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the 8 and 10 a.m. services, at the Presbyterian church nestled adjacent to Mobile Bay at the corner of South Mobile Street and Fig Avenue. The sermon title that day will be “Fixing Our Focus.” McCollum comes to Fairhope from the First Presbyterian Church of DeLand, Fla., where he served as associate pastor for almost seven years. He will be joined by his wife of 11 years, Sherri, and their three children, Jordan (7), Sam (5), and Enley (2).

After graduating from Tulane University in New Orleans, McCollum joined the Mississippi Teacher Corp, which is sponsored by the State Department of Education and the University of Mississippi. While teaching, he earned a masters degree in secondary education. In 1998, Matt entered Princeton Seminary and graduated with a masters of divinity in 2001. While in seminary, he did an internship at Memorial Presbyterian Church near Philadelphia and worked as a chaplain at the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, N.J.
