Trione Sports Complex getting new lights

Posted

DAPHNE, Ala.— Daphne’s Trione Sports Complex will have new lights at every field in the complex before the fireworks light up the sky on July 4, David McKelroy, parks and recreation director said.

All of the lights that were already in the park will be retrofitted and new lights will be placed on the fields that did not already have lights.

McKelroy said the improvements won’t just provide brighter lights, but they will also save the city money in the long run. All of the lights will be computer-controlled.

“When they are computerized, we can schedule the lights to come on at any time for any length and go off at a certain time. Somebody doesn’t physically have to be there to turn the lights on and off. I can also do it by telephone,” McKelroy said.

The new lights will allow the city to use the lights only when necessary.

“It gives us better control over that resource as to who is using those lights and when,” McKelroy said.
