The Eastern Shore of Baldwin County is well represented in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association high school football poll.

Daphne, Spanish Fort and Bayside Academy are ranked in their respective classifications, while Fairhope edged closer to cracking the 6A poll this week.

Daphne (3-0) received 69 votes and reached No. 9 in Class 6A this week. The previously unranked Trojans defeated rival Foley 17-13 last week after starting the season with wins over Baldwin County and Alma Bryant. The Trojans, 2-0 in Region 2, play region foe Williamson tonight at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.

Fairhope (2-1) received votes and sit just outside the top 10. The Pirates opened with a loss to Spanish Fort, but rebounded with wins over 6A Region 2 opponents McGill-Toolen and Satsuma. Fairhope hosts Baldwin County tonight.

In Class 5A, the Spanish Fort Toros fell six places to No. 9 after losing to St. Paul’s 31-17 last week. The Toros, 2-1 overall and 1-1 in 5A Region 1, host Mary G. Montgomery tonight.

In 3A, Bayside Academy is off to one of the best starts in school history. The Admirals moved up two spots to No. 8 in this week’s poll after soundly defeating Montgomery Academy 50-0 last week. The Admirals opened the season with wins over Millry and T.R. Miller. Bayside hosts 4A opponent Clarke County tonight.
