FAIRHOPE, Alabama—A dominant second quarter helped propel Daphne to a 35-24 halftime lead and an eventual 72-59, 6A Area 3, win at Fairhope Tuesday night.

The Trojans wrapped up the area race with a 6-2 area record and a second seed for the Area 3 tournament hosted by the area's regular-season winner Baldwin County High. The Pirates will take a 2-6 mark into the tournament next week as the No. 4 seed. Robertsdale will be the third seed with a 4-4 record, Foley went 0-8 while BCHS won the regular season with a 7-1 finish.

Fairhope rallied throughout the third quarter—highlighted by senior Nate Andrews breaking the 1,000 career-point mark—but the Pirates never pulled closer than six points down the stretch. The Pirates were hampered by first-half injuries that sidelined Rushing and Davis Watson.

Chris Sain fired 17 points for DHS to lead all, Bradley Nero added 12 and Lonnie Davis 10. The Trojans were 12-for-23 at the free-throw line.

Andrews finished with 15 points for the night and his career total idling at 1,009, Jordan Fuhrman scored 14 and Britton Flowers 10 for FHS. The Pirates went cold at the line hitting just 13-of-35 free throws.

The 6A Area 3 tournament games begin Tuesday. No tip-off times had been set at this writing.
