Tropical storm Ophelia strengthening

At 4 a.m.this morning the center of Tropical Storm Ophelia was located near latitude 12.7 north and longitude 41.8 west. Ophelia is moving toward the west near 13 mph and this general motion is expected to continue for the next 48 hours with some increase is forward speed, according to the National Weather Service.

Computer models now have the story passing north of Puerto Rico and heading up the east coast much like recent storms Maria and Katia.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts. Some gradual strengthening is possible during the next day or so.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles mainly to the north of the center.

Estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb or 29.68 inches.
