When I lived in Georgia, I cooked and enjoyed many recipes using peaches and apples.

It was easy for me to remember this recipe for peach cobbler — I use one of everything; 1 stick, 1 cup, 1 quart etc. I’ve used this basic recipe with other fruit, too.

If you are using canned peaches with a lot of juice, you may want to reduce the milk to ¾ cup. If you use peaches early in the season before they are really sweet, you could try adding a 6-ounce can of peach nectar or increase your sugar by ¼ cup.

Quick and Easy Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup baking mix
  • 1 quart peaches

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in baking dish. Mix sugar, baking mix and milk in bowl. Pour over margarine. Do not stir. Pour peaches on top. If using, pour nectar on last. Do not stir. Bake for 1 hour.

Peach cobbler is especially delicious when served with ice cream. Enjoy!

From the scriptures

Spiritual food is essential for all of us, as well as physical food. We should nourish our mind and feed our spirit daily just as we feed our body. To memorize a weekly Bible Verse is a fabulous spiritual food. Try it, and you will see how easy it is to memorize scripture.

Our memory verse for this week is Romans 5:8 (ESV): “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
