The 5th Annual Sheriff Taylor Wilkins Memorial Golf Tournament will be April 16 at Glenlakes Golf Course, and proceeds will benefit the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranches and the Boys Ranch in Summerdale, Alabama.
The deadline is Tuesday to sponsor a hole or place a team in the tournament.
The tournament features a four-member team scramble and includes lunch and beverages. Lunch will be served at noon with a tee time of 1 p.m. Several door prizes will be given out throughout the day.
The Liquidation Outlet of Loxley and Foley is the primary door prize sponsor. Titles sponsors for this year are Keefe Commissary, Coke, and Barber Marina.
Sheriff Taylor Wilkins served as Baldwin County Sheriff from 1947 to 1975. During his tenure he served on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranch System. Wilkins was instrumental in the creation of several youth ranches, particularly locating the Boys Ranch on County Road 32 in Summerdale.
The ranch houses approximately 12 boys who range in age from 6 to 18. The Summerdale Ranch also houses the Youth Ranches College Transitional home where young men can live while attending local colleges.
Since the Tournament began in 2007, over $100,000 has been raise for the Youth Ranch.
