ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Candidates wishing to qualify for Orange Beach and Gulf Shores city elections must file paperwork by 5 p.m. today to be on the ballot.
Only two slots on the Orange Beach Council are contested, Place one where Al Bradley and Iris Ethridge have qualified, and Place 3 where Pattisue Simpson, the incumbent, and Jerry Johnson have qualified to run.
Incumbents Mayor Tony Kennon and councilmembers Jeff Silvers, Joni Blalock and Brett Holk had no opponents as of press time Monday.
In Gulf Shores at press time only the incumbents, Mayor Robert Craft and councilmembers Joe Garris, Carolyn Doughty, Phillip Harris, Jason Dyken and Steve Jones, had officially filed paperwork to run for offices there. City Clerk Wanda Parris said she had issued five packets for qualifying but none of the the five had turned in papers as of press time Monday.
