Two Gulf Coast residents were arrested earlier this week in Foley and charged with drug trafficking.

On Jan. 27, a Foley K-9 officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevt Silverado driven by Timmy Lee Thornton (44, Eight Mile) along with passenger Ashley Marie Pennington (25, Foley).

According to the Foley Police, Thornton was found to have an invalid license and Pennington had a pending warrant with the Robertsdale Police Department.

A further investigation of the vehicle discovered the pair had 5.2 ounces of methamphetamine, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Both subjects were arrested and charged with trafficking. Further charges could be pending.
