SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Two guided boat tours of the wildlife of the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta have been scheduled by Blakeley State Park: one a regular Saturday afternoon “walk on” and the second featuring a seafood luncheon stop on the Mobile Bay Causeway to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
The regular “walk-on” is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 from 1:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis but can be purchased in advance using credit cards. They may also be purchased at the gate on the date of the tour.
The St. Patrick’s Day special tour Tuesday March 17 leaves Blakeley Park at 10 a.m., tours the Delta area, arrives at the Blue Gill Restaurant at 11:30 for a one-hour buffet lunch and returns to the Blakeley dock at 1 p.m. The St. Patrick’s Day special was initiated last year. The lunch plan has been changed from individuals ordering from the menu to a buffet as a timesavings convenience.
Tickets for the boat tours are $22 for adults, $12 for children 6-12 and free to children 4-6 payable to Blakeley Park. Cost of the St. Patrick’s Day lunch is $12.95 plus tax and tip paid to the restaurant.
Tours are aboard the 50-passenger Delta Explorer, owned by Blakeley Park and operated from its waterfront dock on the Tensaw River. For reservations for the regular tour and the St. Patrick’s Day tour with luncheon buffet call Blakeley Park at 626-5581.
Blakeley State Park is located on Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of Spanish Fort. Charter boat trips are also available.
