Two held on capital murder charges denied bail

BON SECOUR, Ala. — Two area men are being held without bail on capital murder charges in the Baldwin County Corrections Center.

Floyd Cardale Casey, 18, of Baldwin County Road 49 in Magnolia Springs, and Cortez LeVance Porter, 19, of Mills Road in Foley, were booked into the Corrections Center on Dec. 30, 2008, in connection with the pre-Christmas death of a Bon Secour man.

The body of Edward Wayne McCrory, 52, of 6845 County Road 49 was found in his trailer on Dec. 22, 2008. McCrory’s body had multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma, according to a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office press release issued Dec. 30. Authorities believe McCrory had been dead a couple of days before his body was discovered by his landlord.

The same release said the charge against Porter, who was arrested the night of Dec. 29, 2008, were for the alleged robbery and murder of McCrory.

At that point, Casey had not been arrested. The release said Casey was considered “armed and extremely dangerous.” He was arrested shortly thereafter.

The arrest of the two men came after a “week of intense investigation” by BCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division, the release said.

On Wednesday, Casey and Porter had a bond hearing before Baldwin County District Court Judge Jody Bishop in Fairhope. Bishop denied bail for the two men.
