FAIRHOPE, Ala. — According to a Jan. 19 police report, two off-road Honda motorcycles were reported stolen from a residence in the 8300 Block of County Road 24 in Fairhope, a model CR 450 valued at approximately $7,000 and a model CRF 250 valued at approximately $6,000.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, the victim phoned the police department to advise officers and detectives working the case that he had received information indicating a juvenile had the stolen property. Following up on the lead, FPD officers David Hall, Ben Taylor and Sgt. Clip Gilheart contacted the 15-year-old white, male juvenile.

This break in the investigation enabled the officers to locate the first of the two stolen motorcycles, the CR 450, where it had been left in a subdivision off of Battles Road.

A second suspect was subsequently identified. This 17-year-old white male was apprehended and the location of the other motorcycle was discovered. The second one had been pushed into the water of Fish River at the end of Clay City Road, Fairhope. FPD Detective Shane Nolte, juvenile crimes investigator, assisted the officers in recovering the motorcycle from Fish River.

Both motorcycles were returned to the victim.

The juveniles, both Fairhope residents, were transported to the Baldwin County Juvenile Detention Center in Bay Minette, where they were booked on first-degree charges of receiving stolen property, which is a felony.

The case will be heard in juvenile court. The officers involved in the arrests and recovery described the juveniles as cooperative.
