GULF SHORES, AL - Two pedestrians were struck by vehicles in the early morning hours of June 27 at separate locations in Gulf Shores.
One of those was struck by a Gulf Shores Police vehicle on beach road about 1:02 a.m. Another was struck Gulf Shores Parkway in front of Pelican Place. The vehicle involved in that crash left the scene and headed north on Gulf Shores Parkway.
The on-duty Gulf Shores Police vehicle struck a pedestrian in the 100 block of East Beach Boulevard.
“As the pedestrian crossed the road he was struck by the police vehicle,” a department press release stated. “The pedestrian was crossing the roadway in the middle of the 100 block and not at an intersection or crosswalk.”
According to the release when a department vehicle is involved in a crash an outside agency is asked to investigate. Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
In the incident on Gulf Shores Parkway a male was hit by a black vehicle possibly a Toyota or Lexus sedan. Anyone with information on the driver or vehicle involved is asked to call Det. Drummond with the Gulf Shores Police Department 251-968-3556 or 251-968-2431.
